CPA, B.Bus (dist) (Acc), Senior Accountant

I was born and raised in Melbourne and started my accounting career with a national manufacturing business. In 1991 I enrolled into university as a part time student and over the six year period I received awards from the Golden Key International Honour Society (top 15% of university students by invitation only), the 1994 Australian Society of CPA Prize for Best 2nd year Accounting Student (RMIT) and the Society Award of Excellence in Accounting. In 1997 I graduated with a Bachelor of Business (distinction) in Accounting and in 1999 was admitted into the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants.

After 23 years in commercial accounting in Melbourne, Daryl and I decided to start planning our “tree change” and purchased acreage east of Wodonga. It only took four years of travelling up and down the highway before we decided to bite the bullet and semi-retire to a “lifestyle” farm.

Since 2005 I have been working as a public accountant specialising in Self Managed Super Funds (SMSF). Being constantly told what a great workplace ATS was by a staff member, in 2010 I jumped at the chance of moving south of the border when a position became available. A decision I have never regretted. It is great to be allowed the flexibility to work part time and therefore getting the balance between work and lifestyle just right for my family.

"It is easy to go to work when you are surrounded by friendly and happy people who are willing to assist other to ensure that all staff members and clients have a great experience when dealing with ATS."

It is a pleasure to get to know my clients and discuss what they want from their SMSF. It is always interesting working on maximising their tax benefits and helping them to have the confidents to get the best outcome for their individual needs.

I love everything about the region - the lifestyle, spectacular views (especially overlooking Lake Hume), being a part of a local community and the weather (even those 8 weeks of freezing temperatures).

In our spare time Daryl and I run our “lifestyle” farm (breed and grow cattle), planting trees, protecting of native grass land, participating in Landcare and getting involved with my local community (I have previously been the Chair of the Audit/Risk Committee and a Board member for the Tallangatta Health Service for a period of six years).
